We woke up to the pouring rain this morning. I am a little confused as to why we believe nothing compares to our Arizona monsoons. Because, this had to be equivalent to that and it lasted for hours. We were all a little concerned we were going to be spending the day inside in Torre del Lago. I know what you are thinking... Really they are going to let a little rain get them down? Yes, it probably would have. The rain was coming down so hard, I am pretty sure it would have collapsed all our umbrellas.
Well, as you can see below, the rain eased up a bit and we adventured out. We figured the least we could accomplish is food for breakfast and a caffe. Anything less would be ridiculous.

So yes, we made it to caffe. Erika and I ordered a cappuccino. Jamie ordered a latte. Well, we all know that is an acceptable coffee order at Starbucks. It is still an order here and she definitely isn't the only one to ever order it, but it did not have the kick I think Jamie was going for. She really just ordered a frothy warm milk, an easy mistake. Once she realized her mistake, she had to return to the counter and sheepishly ask for a shot of espresso to add to it. The drink turned out delicious though!

The rain went away and it was time to play. Pisa here we go. This is where the warning comes in handy. If you hate über touristy pictures that you have seen over and over, stop reading. But if you aren't that snooty, enjoy all our ridiculous poses. This is but a very, very small fraction of the pictures we took like this.

Erika never had a chance, of course I would win.

Oh man, that was pretty fun. Next, we walked up the 300 steps (give or take a few) to the top of the leaning tower. It was a weird feeling walking up as the tower angle was leaning. You found yourself being pushed into the wall on some turns and it was a little dizzying. But, it was well worth it. The view was spectacular.

We stayed up there for a whole hour just talking and looking out over the city. We were surprised we didn't get kicked off.

We wandered around the piazza for a while more, did some shopping, and then headed back to the train station. A nice little day in Pisa.
