Day 0 - It is really happening!
October 5, 2012
When I went to Europe the last time, Kelly and I bought our tickets and flew out about 2 weeks later. Not a lot of time to wait and wait for the trip to come. This time around I bought my ticket well in advance and I have had to do a lot of waiting around. Not sure which way is better the anticipation has been fun and the price was way better this time, but the instant gratification really was missed. Not to mention, my parents and aunts have been there for the last 3 weeks making me oh so jealous. But it's finally here, we leave today.
Erika and I fly out today for Dallas, London, Pisa, and then a bus ride to Torre del Lago. It is going to be a long day and night. But you can expect to think of us landed in Pisa and hopefully sipping on our first glass of wine by the time all of you are waking up on Saturday morning. The true definition of "it's five o'clock somewhere." The only directions my mom gave me for finding them after we land, "well if we aren't there waiting for you after security, look for us at one of the places they serve wine right outside the airport." I think they have embraced their Italian spirits.
Jamie Stacy, will be following shortly behind. She will make her way to Pisa on Monday. She is embracing the last minute travel glory, even more last minute than I did last year. I am so excited to have these two lovely ladies by my side on this adventure. Sadly, we couldn't get Kelly and Jamie Tracey to ditch their jobs to join us too. I guess they are more responsible than us... you guys will be missed though!
So when you think of us, please send safe travel thoughts and check back for all the adventures to come!
For a little taste of what the family has been doing over there without me, here is a link to my mom's blog:
